[love is more thicker than forget]

I ran across this poem last night, and was so moved by it that I wanted to share it with you all. You can also hear it read most dramatically at The Poetry Foundation. I think “most mad and moonly” is the most swoon-worthy phrase I’ve heard in ages.

[love is more thicker than forget]

e.e. cummings

love is more thicker than forget
more thinner than recall
more seldom than a wave is wet
more frequent than to fail

it is most mad and moonly
and less it shall unbe
than all the sea which only
is deeper than the sea

love is less always than to win
less never than alive
less bigger than the least begin
less littler than forgive

it is most sane and sunly
and more it cannot die
than all the sky which only
is higher than the sky

E.E. Cummings, “[love is more thicker than forget]” from Complete Poems 1904-1962, edited by George J. Firmage.

Thanks for that….by the way, my favorite ee cummings poem is here:
“I thank you God, for most this amazing day…..”
When I was a youth and sang in the church choir, we sang a contemporary hymn that put music to the poem. I think of it often especially on an amazing day…..
